Terms of Service

Last updated: July 12, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the SOTA Papers website and any related content or services (collectively, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

2. Description of the Service

SOTA Papers provides curated, editorial synthesis of publicly available academic preprints, primarily sourced from arXiv.org. The Service is provided for informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for reading the original papers, and it does not constitute academic, professional, financial, legal, or other advice.

3. Editorial Content

Editorial articles on the Service are produced by synthesizing material extracted from the underlying source papers. While we design our editorial process to prioritize factual consistency and to avoid overclaiming, our content may contain errors, omissions, or misinterpretations.

You should always consult the original paper — linked from every article — for authoritative detail. We make no representation that any summary, claim grading, or analysis is complete, accurate, or current.

4. Intellectual Property

The editorial articles, design, layout, and original text created by SOTA Papers are owned by SOTA Papers or its licensors and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may view, share links to, and quote reasonable excerpts of our content with attribution for non-commercial purposes.

The underlying academic papers, abstracts, figures, and author information remain the property of their respective authors and are made available under the terms set by arXiv and the authors' chosen licenses. SOTA Papers claims no ownership over that source material. Any third-party names, logos, or trademarks are the property of their respective owners.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or regulation;
  • engage in automated bulk scraping, crawling, or harvesting of the Service beyond what is permitted by our robots.txt, or in a manner that imposes an unreasonable load on our infrastructure;
  • attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems, accounts, or data;
  • misrepresent our editorial content as peer-reviewed or authoritative; or
  • use the Service to distribute malware or otherwise interfere with its operation.

6. Newsletter

If you subscribe to our newsletter, you consent to receive periodic emails about new and notable research. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. Your use of the newsletter is also subject to our Privacy Policy.

7. Third-Party Links

The Service contains links to third-party websites, including arXiv, code repositories, and dataset hosts. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third-party sites. Accessing them is at your own risk.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that content will be accurate or reliable.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SOTA Papers and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

10. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; the “Last updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which the Service operator is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions.
